The first block has a traditional title "Solo for a Voice". Now its protagonist is Svetlana Gannushkina, president of the Committee "Civil Co-operation" and member of "Memorial". In her essay "Difficult Right of Citizens" she speaks on history and work of the organization involved in problems of migrants and refugees and expresses her vision of the history of inter-ethnical conflicts on the territory of former USSR and the nowadays situation including practical and juridical aspects of the problem.

The second block, titled "Uninvited Newcomers", includes the file "The alian calamity is not ours". Here we publish the material by Elena Riabinina, the director of the Program of Assistance for political refugees from Central Asia of the Committee "Civil Co-operation". In the article "The Story on Extraditions" she tells on illegal practices of law-enforcing bodies in extradition of refugees from Uzbekistan.

Zoia Svetova, a journalist of "Novaya Gazeta", writes in the essay "Aliens in Homeland" on the failure of widely propagandized President Project of returning of compatriots from former republics of USSR using real stories of "returners".

Marcin Voicehovsky, a journalist of the Polish newspaper "Gazeta Wyborca", publishes a material "Poland is not Abroad" where tells on amendments of Polish legislation on the defense of foreigners and as a consequence the breaking-up of Centers for Refugees where more than 1500 persons, mostly Chechens, found the refuge.

The same author in the other material "Isa which Wanted to be a Man" continues the theme telling about the complicated destiny of Isa Abubakarov, Chechen who tried to find the refuge in Europe and died soon after learning that he would be deported from Poland. The author cites the personal journal of Isa where he describes his misadventures of the refugee.

The file "If you know how to use your tongue, you will get... to Kondopoga" includes the article of well-known sociologist and criminologist Yakov Guilinski (Saint-Ptersbourg) "Hate Crimes: History, Theory, Reality" where the author analyzes the phenomenon in the world and the reasons of its wide spreading in modern Russia.

Aleksandr Verhovski, director of Human Rights informational-anlytical Centre "SOVA" in his article "Perspectives of Russian Radical Nationalism in today Russia" analyzes the phenomenon basing on the results of the monitoring "Nationalism and Xenophobia" which is carried out by the Centre "SOVA".

In this file of the block we publish also the article of psychologist Aleksei Solnyshkov "Nationalism as a Mechanism of Psychological Defence" where he analyzes the psychological basis of nationalist views in modern Russia.

The next file is dedicated to the problems of Gypsies in Russia. The first article "The Case of Kaliningrad" is written by Vladimir Lusin, advocate (Nizhni Novgorod). He tells about his personal experience of defense in the well-known trial on eviction of Gypsies from a little town near Kaliningrad.

Stefania Kulaeva, an expert of "Memorial" (Saint-Petersburg), in her material " The Cramped Space of Russia" tells on massive illegal persecutions of Gypsies in various region of Russia.

Kiril Podrabinek, former political prisoner and well-known Human Rights activist, in his essay "Gypsy Question" explains this question as a symptom of more general social disease of Russia, xenophobia.

A journalist from the region of Archangelsk, Aleksandr Kuleshov, in the article "The Case of Kotliary" tells about eviction of this Gypsy tribe from his region.

The file "The more - worse" begins with a large review "Could it be that we are few?" by Revecca Frumkina (well-known philologist and journalist) on a new book "Does Russia need immigrants?" written by the leading Russian demographists and sociologists. The main themes of the article are: xenophobia in modern Russia; mythological structures of mass conscience supporting nationalism; problems of assimilation.

The following essay "Does Newcomer Means Unwanted?" of Kristina Truhan, a student of the Faculty of Fine Art of the Russian State University of Humanities opens the views of the young generation on the problem.

The well-known writer Natalia Rubanova emotionally discuss the problem of migration as one of the main reasons of mass irritation in her essay "Newcomers Everywhere!"

Ute Weinmann, journalist writing on the most keen social themes, in her article "The European Migration Policy Becomes a Practice of Deportation" gives critical analysis of European policy on refugees and illegal immigrants.

Victor Perevedentsev, one of the leading Russian demographists, dedicated his article "The Demographical Future of Russia" to the analysis of the present situation and prognosis of the demographical situation in Russia and, as a consequence, to the necessity of changing social stereotypes concerning migrants.

The third block "The Boundaries of misunderstanding" begins with the article by Aleksandr Bangerski (Paris) "Ethnic Bomb": French Experience" where the contradictory French experience of assimilation is considered. The author touchs also the events of the autumn 2005 in France which he witnessed himself.

Anjei de Lazari (professor, Lodz University, Poland) in his essay "In Defence of Polish Pride" writes about the feeling of national pride which must not contradict the ethics of solidarity.

The next article by Aleksei Mokrousov "On Bounderies and their Reconciliation" is a review on the Russian translation of the book "Ethnic groups and social boundaries" edited by R. Bart.

The well-known historian, culturologist and journalist Igor Yakovenko in the article "The People live by Myths and not by Reality" discusses the theme of newcomers and the stereotypes of perception of "aliens" that becomes a very dangerous force in our country.

Jan Shenkman, poet, writer, critic, sees the basis of Russian nationalism and xenophobia in the collectivist past of the country and shares his thoughts in the essay "Unusual Face".

The essay "On Nationalism" (1945) of the classic of English literature George Orwell is now unexpectedly actual for our country.

Naum Nim, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, writer, in his essay "There, across the Railway" shows how a person reaching manhood moves the limits of "here" and "there", of "mine" and "alien".

The block "Hisory" begins with the file "All times are similar". The first material here is an essay "On a Civilization Identity of Russia" by Vadim Mezhuev, well-know philosopher and writer. He analyzes the search not finished yet by Russia of its own identity. His opinion is original one, not politically engaged.

Memoirs of Aleksei Petrovich Ermolov during his administration in Georgia. An abstract of the Memoirs by this general of 19th century and famous Russian commander is published as an illustration of old Russian politics regarding culturally aliens groups in Caucasus.

The historical documental material "Back in the Sea" of the writer Rostislav Gorchakov tells on the dramatic fate of Jews going by sea from Romania to Palestine in September of 1941.

The second file "And people are different" includes the article of Aleksei Mokrousov "Writers at Backsight" where two cases of intolerance to freedom of expression in Europe are discussed on the examples of scandals around Gunter Grass' Memoirs and position of the Austrian writer Peter Handtke.

The block "Post Mortem" contains materials in memoriam of Gennadi Zhavoronkov, the journalist, writer, Human Rights activist: the obituary by Elena Bonner, well-known Human Rights activist, and an abstract from one of the last books of the deceased writer "What about did the Katyn Forest keep Silence, when the Academician Andrei Saharov Spoke".
